Miss Josephine L. (Josie) Coleman, 81, longtime South Williamsport resident, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. Josie had resided at The Williamsport Home for the past two years. Josephine was born in Williamsport on June 18, 1930. She was the daughter of the late H. Clifton and Carrie E. Frey Coleman. Josie was a graduate of the South Williamsport High School, class of 1948 and from the former Miss Wheaton's Commercial School in May of 1949. Josephine was preceded in death by her late parents and is survived by several cousins and friends. Miss Coleman retired from Lycoming County where she had been employed in the office of the Prothonotary for many years. She was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church at South Williamsport. Josie succeeded in becoming a sixteen gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross. She was a member of the former Oaks Club of Williamsport. Josie especially loved dog sitting for her friends' pets and was an avid Notre Dame fan. She enjoyed jazz music as well as spending time on the Susquehanna with her special "River Gang" friends. She also enjoyed travel. Graveside funeral services with committal will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, pastor at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church at Williamsport will officiate. There will be no visitation and flowers are respectfully declined. Memorial contributions in memory of Miss Josephine L. "Josie" Coleman may be made, if so desired to the Lycoming County SPCA, 2805 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport.
