Doris J. Alexander, 79, of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born Oct. 20, 1932, in Hazelton, she was a daughter of Roland and Dorothy Baum Turnbach. She was a graduate of Sheppton High School and had worked at Britt's Department Store and retired from Litton Industries. Doris was a member of New Covenant United Church of Christ, where she was involved in many church activities including church council, choir and the women's guild. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, camping, NASCAR and attending her grandchildren's musical performances. Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Donald W. Alexander, whom she married Nov. 28, 1985; a daughter, Donna J. Curchoe (Stephen) of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Ryan Curchoe (Laura) and Heather Curchoe; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Jack Curchoe; four stepchildren, Raymond W. Alexander II (Wanda) of Jersey Shore, Todd W. Alexander (Denise) of Woolrich, Tammy M. Thompson (David) of Jersey Shore and Cindy K. Alexander of Antes Fort; nine stepgrandchildren, Stephen, Sara, Raymond III, Austin, Mallory, Jordan, Jarod, A.J. and Allison; and a brother, Norbert Turnbach of Frackville. She was preceded in death by a brother, The Rev. Dr. Roland Turnbach Jr. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Third St., Williamsport, with The Rev. Clara A. Benson officiating. Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport.
