Charles W. Humphrey, 86, formerly of Pine Creek, passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Green Hills Village in State College. He was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Williamsport, he was the son of Ray and Nora Wolf Humphrey. Charles was the husband of the former Dorothy L. Reid, who passed in 2007. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Charles retired in 1987 after 35 years of service as a machinist from Textron Lycoming. There are no immediate family survivors. His services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home", 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, with Rev. Laurence G. Gerber, 62, of 310 Arch St., Montoursville, died on Nov. 13, 2011, at his residence. He was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Williamsport, the son of Ambrose and Clara Luxenberger Gerber. Larry was a computer programmer at Data Papers, enjoyed time at Happy Achers River Lot, Penn State football and especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his mother, Clara M. Gerber of Williamsport; his wife, the former, Susan M. Lynch; a son, Brian L. (Jenn) DeSanto; brothers and sisters, Carla G. (Charles) Szybist of Williamsport, Daniel J. Gerber of South Williamsport, Paul M. Gerber of Williamsport, Michael J. (Jean) Gerber of Mingoville, Ramon C. (Madelyn) Gerber of Lansdale, Alice A. Hirschle of DuBois, Joseph A. Gerber of Williamsport, Tina M. (Mark) Weitlich of Cogan Station and Jerry F. (Bernadette) Gerber of Gaithersburg, Md.; and three grandchildren, Niccolo, Jenna and Gianna DeSanto. He was preceded by his father, Ambrose C. Gerber; a brother, Charles J. Gerber; and a sister, Marie T. Kiessling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville, with Rev. John K. Manno as celebrant. Burial will follow in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Walter E. Hamilton Jr., 38, of Lewistown, died on Nov. 10, 2011, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born Jan. 18, 1973, in Pahokee, Fla., the son of Walter Hamilton Sr. and Dianna Johnson. Walter was a graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Penn Tech, Harrisburg Community College and the University of Pittsburgh studying criminal justice. He was employed as a mechanical insulator through Union Local No. 23, assisting in the construction of the new Hershey Medical Center. He was in his last year for becoming an apprentice with his union. Walter was a member of the Christ Temple Apostolic Church, formerly of Milton. He enjoyed scary movies, music, being a DJ, weight lifting and motorcycle riding. Walter is survived by his mother, Dianna Herritt of Williamsport and his father, Walter E. Hamilton Sr. of Belle Glade, Fla.; his grandparents, Corine and Robert Johnson of Fla.; two children, Zane Hamilton and Jakar Martinez; sisters, Katrina D. Johnson, Salina TD Johnson, Chanelle C. Johnson and Jamia S. Harrod; half brothers and sisters, Stacy Potts, Lisa Potts, Christopher Potts and Jerome Potts, fiancee, Marina Taylor and her four children. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and stepfather, James S. Harrods, who played an integral part in his upbringing from age 12 to 18. Lawrence Warner Jr., 68, of 205 Marion St., Jersey Shore, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, in the Manor Care Health Center in Jersey Shore. Born Dec. 19, 1942, in Barton, N.Y., he was the son of Lawrence Warner Sr. and the former Eba Utter. He was a retired welder from Radient Steel Co. Lawrence was preceded in death by his his companion, Dorothy L. Rodgers, Jan. 23, 2010. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, at 11 a.m. in the Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Saint John Cemetery. Rev. David McCoy will officiate.

Miss Josephine L. (Josie) Coleman, 81, longtime South Williamsport resident, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. Josie had resided at The Williamsport Home for the past two years. Josephine was born in Williamsport on June 18, 1930. She was the daughter of the late H. Clifton and Carrie E. Frey Coleman. Josie was a graduate of the South Williamsport High School, class of 1948 and from the former Miss Wheaton's Commercial School in May of 1949. Josephine was preceded in death by her late parents and is survived by several cousins and friends. Miss Coleman retired from Lycoming County where she had been employed in the office of the Prothonotary for many years. She was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church at South Williamsport. Josie succeeded in becoming a sixteen gallon blood donor for the American Red Cross. She was a member of the former Oaks Club of Williamsport. Josie especially loved dog sitting for her friends' pets and was an avid Notre Dame fan. She enjoyed jazz music as well as spending time on the Susquehanna with her special "River Gang" friends. She also enjoyed travel. Graveside funeral services with committal will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011 at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. The Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, pastor at Saint Mark's Lutheran Church at Williamsport will officiate. There will be no visitation and flowers are respectfully declined. Memorial contributions in memory of Miss Josephine L. Julia M. (Uplinger) Clark, 96, of Trout Run, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Rose View Center, Williamsport. Born on Dec. 19, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Adam N. and Ada C. (Shaffer) Uplinger. After graduating high school, Julia owned her own restaurant and also worked as a registered nurse in Meadville, Pa. She enjoyed singing, playing bingo, reading books and traveling in the fall. Julia was also a member of Trout Run United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, Frank McGuiness, Reginald Embler and Wray Clark; stepdaughter, Jane R. Kupper; sister, Mary Deemer; brothers, Herbert Lynn, Paul Edward, Reed and Harvey C. Uplinger; and nieces, Judy Bausinger and Marie Trump, with whom she was especially close to. Left to remember Julia is stepson, Edward L. Ember and wife, Bev; stepdaughter, Judith A. Joyce and husband, Richard; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nephew, David Deemer. Clair N. Knecht, 86, of Bellefonte, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at The Fairways at Brookline Village. Born Feb. 17, 1925, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late Walter N. and Margaret E. Bitner Knecht. On Nov. 4, 1945, in Howard, he married Betty R. Harter, who survives at home. He was a 1943 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1945-1946 in World War II. He farmed from 1946 to 1971. From 1965-1969, he served in the security department at Penn State. From 1970 until his retirement in 1987, he was a supervisor in the housing department at Penn State. He was the director of the Eastern Milk Producers and the Eastern States, and was the director and past president of the Walker Township Water Association. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Retired Mixed Bowling League in Pennsylvania and in Florida. He was a member of the Pleasant Gap Fire Company No. 1. In his younger years, he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and the Young Farmers Association. He and his wife spent their winters in Florida from 1990 to 2009. He enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Hawaii. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William L. Knecht (Pegge), formerly of Williamsport, of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C.; three sisters, Helen J. Reish, Evelyn Tupper and Isabel Eisenhaur; one brother, Ray A. Knecht; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Marie; a son, Earl N.; a brother, Lawall; and four sisters, Elizabeth Courter, Mildred Coakley, Mary Louise Fox and Maguerite McGill. He was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Hublersburg, where he served as a deacon and as an elder. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at Trinity United Church of Christ, 355 Hublersburg Road, Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011, at the church, with the Rev. Jeff Munnis officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery. Leo Lewis Taddeo, of 2635 Waldman Drive, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011. He was born in Williamsport on March 15, 1929, the son of the late Albert and Blanche Mercaldo Taddeo. Leo was a member of Saint Joseph The Worker Parish Mater Dolorosa Church. He attended Williamsport High School and was a member of the school football team that went undefeated during the 1945 season. He graduated from Saint Francis Prep School in 1948, where he played football and was known as two touchdown Taddeo. Leo attended the University of Scranton and Lycoming College. In 1951, he joined the Air Force, but returned home after three months when his father passed away to help his mother run the family business, the Columbia Hotel. From 1954 to 1956 he served in the U.S Army, and was stationed in Japan. In 1956, on a trip to Toronto, Canada, to visit his uncles, he met Victoria Ruggiero and after a two-year courtship, they married and on June 28, 2011, they celebrated 53 years of marriage. Leo owned and operated The Columbia Hotel with his wife and mother for 45 years. They retired in 1997 when they sold the business. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Theresa, Leah and Pauline. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; three sons, Albert (wife Carey) of Pennsylvania, Joseph (wife Amy) of Colorado, Mark of Maryland and daughter Vicki (husband Jeff) of Maryland; six grandchildren, Leo, Joey, Jonathan Taddeo, Rachel and Emily Lightner, Jada Taddeo; and one great-grandson, (His buddy) Avery Dougherty-Taddeo. They were the joy of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Antoinette (Dolly) Pellegrini of New Jersey, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Leo was a lifetime member of the Keystone League, Sons of Italy Lodge 2786, 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. For many years he was a member of the Holy Name Society of Mater Dolorosa Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his pastor, Father Shane Kirby, at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at Mater Dolorosa Church, 635 Hepburn St. Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sun Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Man charged with taking money, ring

WELLSBORO - Lee A. Kolk Jr., 24, no address, recently was charged in Wellsboro District Court with theft and receiving stolen property by Wellsboro police. According to court documents, Kolk took $300 in cash, a bottle of vicodin, a black leather jacket and a Wellsboro High School class ring at from the victim at 11 Cortland St. on Oct. 27, after he and another man spent the night there unknown to the residents. Kolk previously had lived there and had access to the home. He was jailed in lieu of $15,000 bail and his preliminary hearing was held last week.

Doris J. Alexander, 79, of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born Oct. 20, 1932, in Hazelton, she was a daughter of Roland and Dorothy Baum Turnbach. She was a graduate of Sheppton High School and had worked at Britt's Department Store and retired from Litton Industries. Doris was a member of New Covenant United Church of Christ, where she was involved in many church activities including church council, choir and the women's guild. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed music, playing the organ, camping, NASCAR and attending her grandchildren's musical performances. Surviving are her husband of 26 years, Donald W. Alexander, whom she married Nov. 28, 1985; a daughter, Donna J. Curchoe (Stephen) of Williamsport; two grandchildren, Ryan Curchoe (Laura) and Heather Curchoe; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Jack Curchoe; four stepchildren, Raymond W. Alexander II (Wanda) of Jersey Shore, Todd W. Alexander (Denise) of Woolrich, Tammy M. Thompson (David) of Jersey Shore and Cindy K. Alexander of Antes Fort; nine stepgrandchildren, Stephen, Sara, Raymond III, Austin, Mallory, Jordan, Jarod, A.J. and Allison; and a brother, Norbert Turnbach of Frackville. She was preceded in death by a brother, The Rev. Dr. Roland Turnbach Jr. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Covenant United Church of Christ, 202 E. Lois F. Minier, 83, of Benton, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at her home. Born Aug. 18, 1928, in Benton, she was a daughter of the late Sanford C. and Millie H. Shultz Minier. Lois attended grade school at Richarts Grove and high school at Hughesville. She retired from Benton Milco and was a member of the Lungerville Christian Church. Lois also enjoyed playing Bingo, puzzle books, reading and watching game shows. Surviving are a brother, Clayton Minier of Mifflinville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by three sister-in-laws, Darlene, Betty and Lenna Minier. William C. "Bill" Haberstroh, 89, of 746 Arch St., died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at The Gatehouse Hospice following a brief illness. Bill's wife, the former Genevieve J. McNeil, died Jan. 14, 2007. Bill had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired from the former Avco in 1985 after 24 years of service. Bill was a Navy veteran of World War II serving on the U.S.S. Missouri. He was a 1941 graduate of the Williamsport High School, a member of VFW Post 844, Williamsport and was an avid fisherman. Born June 22, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Ind., he was the son of Charles H. and Gladys Crawford Haberstroh. Surviving are a son, Christopher C. (Christy) of Williamsport; daughters, Holly M. (Butch) Myers of Muncy and Debra A. Howard of Williamsport; sisters, Peggy Bastian of Williamsport, Betty Kramer of Selinsgrove, Joyce Mix of South Williamsport and Nancy Bordner in Indiana; grandchildren, Brandi Schoch, Tina Ditzler, Sean Howard, Chad and Colleen Haberstroh; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a niece, Marcia. Bill was predeceased by brothers, Jack Haberstroh and Graydon Crawford. Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. David K.
